A Wildlife Safari Near Durban
Tala Game Reserve offers an excellent introduction to the wildlife and landscapes of KwaZulu-Natal.
The reserve combines rolling hills, open grasslands, bushveld and wetland areas, creating habitats for a wide variety of African animals and birdlife.
During your guided safari, we search for wildlife such as white rhino, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, ostrich and numerous species of antelope.
Rather than following a fixed route, your guide uses local knowledge and recent wildlife activity to make the most of your time in the reserve.
Every safari is different — and that is part of the experience.
Rhino, Giraffe, Zebra and More
One of the highlights of Tala is the opportunity to enjoy some of Africa’s iconic wildlife in a beautiful and relatively relaxed environment.
White rhino are among the larger animals we hope to encounter, while giraffe, zebra and antelope are frequently seen across the reserve’s open landscapes.
Tala is also home to smaller predators, including caracal and serval. These secretive cats are rarely seen and sightings can never be guaranteed, but knowing they are present adds another element of excitement to the safari.
The reserve’s wetlands are also home to hippos and a wonderful variety of birdlife.
More Than Just a Game Drive
A guided safari is about much more than simply finding animals.
Your guide will help you identify the different species encountered during the day and explain their behaviour, habitat and role within the African environment.
We can stop for photographs, spend longer at interesting sightings and adjust the experience according to what we find during the day.
For international visitors in particular, it is an opportunity to experience the South African bush with somebody who knows the environment rather than simply driving through it.
Who Is This Tala Day Tour Suitable For?
This safari is particularly suitable for visitors who would like to experience African wildlife but don’t necessarily have the time for a long-distance safari.
It is also a great choice for families, couples, private groups and first-time visitors to South Africa.
With collection and return to your accommodation, there is no need to worry about directions, driving or organising the day’s arrangements yourself.
You can simply enjoy the wildlife, photography and beautiful KwaZulu-Natal scenery.
Your Private Guided Safari
Our tours are designed to be personal and flexible rather than large scheduled coach tours.
Your guide takes care of the day’s arrangements and adapts the safari according to wildlife activity, weather conditions and the interests of the group.
Wild animals roam freely within the reserve, so no particular sighting can ever be guaranteed. That unpredictability is what makes every African safari unique.
