Itinerary

st Lucia and Isimangaliso wetland park safari tour starts in Durban and heads north through Zululand to St Lucia.

Nestled in a corner created by the warm Indian Ocean, St Lucia estuary and Isimangaliso Wetland Park, St Lucia is where we will be spending the day.

Today we take a cruise on the St Lucia estuary, home to 800 hippopotamus and numerous crocodiles. The estuary is part of the world heritage site, Isimangaliso Wetland Park. Although there are no lions here there are possibilities of seeing Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, and Rhino. The birds are abundant with Stilts, Lapwings, Moorhens, and Fish Eagles to name a few.

During your cruise the captain will share his wealth of knowledge about the area and the hippos that you see, up close.

Finishing your cruise it will be nearly lunchtime. There are a number of restaurant options and possibility of a picnic too. Lunch is not included but we can makes plans if necessary.

After lunch we will head into ISimangaliso wetlands park. This is a wetland at the base of 600 million year-old sand dunes. These dunes are vegetated and are home to many animals, snakes and birds. Although there are no lions in the area it is home to 4 of the big 5. Buffalo, Rhinos , Elephants and Leopards are often seen

This game drive will be about 3 hours ending at about 5 pm. Arrival back in Durban is about8pm
